Bandwidth | Definition

The Term Bandwidth refers to the amount of digital data which can be conveyed along an electronic medium such as copper wire or optical fibre. Internet and broadcast connections have differing bandwidths. Dial-up modems generally have a bandwidth of 56 kilobytes per second (kbps). Optical fibre connections have a much higher bandwidth and so are able to convey data more quickly.
